Ember of the Hollow King
★★★★★ 4.6
This is a proper role-playing game that respects that you're on a phone. Combat is turn-based and you can queue actions with taps, so it never demands twitch reflexes. The writing surprised us — companions actually remember what you said three chapters ago.
Character builds are flexible without being overwhelming. We spent a happy hour just rearranging skill trees. Auto-save is generous, which matters when your session ends the second your stop arrives.
It's a bigger download, and the highest graphics preset does warm the phone up. Drop it one notch and it runs cool and smooth for hours.
What we liked
- Turn-based combat that suits touch
- Genuinely good branching story
- Scales well to older phones
